Use Self Hypnosis To Help You Sleep

Tossing and turning in bed while trying to lull yourself to sleep is a good way to waste time and energy as well as to up your stress level even more instead of being able to rest your mind and body. So why not use self-hypnosis to get your insomnia under control? One of the many proven ways wherein you can harness the power of self-hypnosis is when you have problems sleeping.

Here’s a simple how-to to get you dozing off in no time:

• Be ready to fall asleep – lying in bed trying to fall asleep while running a long laundry list of things you needed to do will not help solve your sleeping problems one bit. Instead, try to run through your checklist of “things to do before going to bed” before you actually lie down in bed. Program your mind to associate lying in bed with sleeping, not with thinking about things to do or things you should have done prior to actually trying to get to sleep.

• Find your perfect pose – Find the sleeping position you are most comfortable with. You don’t have to force yourself to lie on your back if that is not where you get to sleep the fastest. Try being on your side instead, while hugging a nice cushy body pillow. Just be in the position where you are most comfortable.

• Leave for tomorrow what you can – If the issue that’s bothering you can wait for the next morning then don’t think about it while you are trying to sleep. As I’ve said, if you must go through a laundry list of things to do, go do it before lying down in bed.

• Focus on relaxing your body – Start from your toes then work your way up. A lot of times we are not even aware that we are tensing up our body parts, so conscious effort is needed to make our body ease up and become relaxed.

• Pay attention to your breathing – Just like an exercise instructor, remind yourself to breathe in and breathe out while thinking of calming and soothing thoughts.

• Let yourself drift away into slumber – Keep on focusing on those relaxing thoughts and soon you will find yourself drifting into sleep.

Just don’t try to use self-hypnosis to make yourself sleep less than what is required by your body to function well and stay healthy. Your goal in practicing self-hypnosis should be to improve yourself, not to cheat yourself into believing that a unhealthy sleeping patterns are actually acceptable.
