What Happens In Hypnosis?

0

Hypnosis, as practiced professionally by trained hypnotherapists, does not involve making fun of people by hypnotising them to think they were chickens.  Hypnosis is actually a natural state that people go into and out of several times a day. It is nothing like the general misconception where you will act like a duck and be made to quack or to make a noise whenever you hear a “magic” word. Those are just for entertainment.

The fact is that professionally performed hypnotherapy, as well as self hypnosis, can help someone to create significant changes in the way that they think, feel and behave. Many people have found hypnosis helpful in reducing their levels of stress or to eliminate an unwanted behaviour, such as smoking.

Professional hypnosis is performed in a very relaxed and controlled environment that moves you into a day-dream like mental state. However, you are still totally in control of what you do and are aware of everything going on around you.

By entering this day-dream like state allows your mind to be free to form new thoughts and open your subconscious to a new line of thought. By tapping into your subconscious, you are able to reset your normal patterns of thought.

When your subconscious is open to suggestion, a hypnotist will help implant new behavioral models such as convincing a smoker that smoking is not an option for coping with stress.

A session of hypnosis plants a seed or thought into your brain, this allows positive thoughts to take root in your subconscious mind that can alter your attitudes or belief structure.

Hypnosis is nothing supernatural. It is like when you become involved with an activity or book and suddenly you realize that an hour or two has passed and didn’t really notice what was going on around you. It is not supernatural, it is simply a form of hypnosis. Intense levels of focus or concentration lets your mind tune out your surroundings and solely focusing on what you are doing or reading. Hypnosis is similar to zoning out.

Once in a hypnotic state of mind, you can start creating positive thoughts in your subconscious to allow you to create changes in the way you think or act.

Hypnosis cannot solve all of your problems in an hour, the assistance that it brings to your life happens over several sessions in order to really take root. Regardless, many people can see large improvements after a single session.

In order for this process to be a success, you must enter it with an open mind. If you expect a panacea or cure-all, then you will become a cynic very quickly.
